Deuteronomy 25: Valuing justice, valuing heritage GK611 Morning Devotion

Introduction:
How can a country live and work in peace and prosperity? Singapore has captured the most fundamental, which is to first look at fairness and justice. How can a country stand on the shoulders of its predecessors and continue to develop? Singapore has also grasped the idea that what has been done before should not be abolished, but should be passed on to continue to move forward.
1. The chastisement should be just (V1-3)
The chastisement of the wicked should be according to the severity of his sin, and not because he has already been chastised, he should not be castigated and punished more severely. This means that the chastisement should be just.
2. workers get the price of work (V4)
The ox is not caged when it kicks the grain in the field, which means that it can be allowed to eat the grain. In the New Testament, Paul even quotes this phrase to express that it is right for workers who serve the Lord full-time to receive wages, because this is God's fair and just law!
3.Life to be passed on
(1) To gain descendants for the brother (V5-10)
God values life to be passed on, so in the culture of the time it was established that the younger brother was to marry his sister-in-law who had no descendants but had become a widow, in order to gain descendants for the older brother. If the brother did not want to, he was actually shamed and therefore had his shoes removed and spit on. Later in the Bible we see that the next of kin of Ruth's husband did not want to continue the life of her husband as a descendant, and as a result the man was not only shamed, but also lost his name to be written in the genealogy of Jesus. On the other hand, Boaz understood God's heart and was willing to marry Ruth, and ended up not only with a good wife, but also by pleasing God, his name was entered into the genealogy of Jesus!
(2) Not to break the breeding line(V11-12)
God values that life can be passed on, so God did not allow the women of that time to harm the reproductive organs of others even when they were helping their husbands out of self-defense to fight back.
4.Treat people fairly (V13-16)
In their daily lives, God's people are fair and just in their interactions with people, even when they enter into trading relationships, and they must not do dishonest things to deceive others. In this way, God's people can enjoy lasting blessings!
5.The evil must be eliminated (V17-19)
In the face of the rebellious and unrepentant Amalekites, God wanted the people to eliminate them from the world in order not to help the devil destroy God's eternal plan of salvation. From the time of the Exodus until the days of Haman's government in Esther, the Amalekites had acted in this way against God, making Him their enemy, and wanting to destroy the people of Israel to interrupt God's plan of salvation. That is why God, who values the continuity and inheritance of life, issued such a command.
Conclusion:
God, the loving Father, wants us to be blessed for a long time, so He commands us to live fairly and justly. This is how we can have good relationships with people and live in peace and happiness in the land God has given us. God the Father values the inheritance of life and blessings, so He commands us not to harm the reproductive organs of others, and to get rid of all the evil forces that prevent the continuation of life.
