Exodus 1
God is always with the people!

The Morning Devotion Speaker: Ps Daniel

1. God’s care is everywhere (Exodus 1:1-7)

The Israelite family of seventy came to Egypt and became an "extremely powerful" nation four hundred years later. This showed God's miraculous care and blessing.

Not only did the Israelites survive in the Gentile lands, but they also “flourished tremendously.” This tells us that no matter how difficult the outside world is, our vitality comes from God, not circumstances. God’s care is everywhere, not only allowing us to stand firm in adversity, but also giving us the abundance of life.

2. God’s plan is unstoppable (Exodus 1:8-12)

(1) People resist due to fear(V11-15)

The new king was frightened by the population growth of the Israelites and feared that they might join forces with their enemies. Therefore, it was decided to increase the suffering and suppress them and make them slaves.

(2) God’s blessings surpass human persecution (V12)(V16-18)

V12 But the more he treated them harshly, the more they multiplied and grew, and the Egyptians were troubled because of the Israelites.

Today we may face unfair treatment in the workplace, social prejudice, and even sudden illness... But just like the Israelites, these pressures cannot stop God’s blessings and plans. You must believe that God’s will will be accomplished, and He can turn adversity into blessing!

3. People are blessed by God because of their obedience (Exodus 1:13-21)

(1) Pharaoh escalates his evil plan of persecution (V13-16)

Pharaoh’s oppression of the Israelites escalated from the labor level to the survival level, and he ordered the Hebrew midwives to kill the Israeli male babies in order to eradicate the prosperity of Israel.

(2) Obey God rather than fear men (V17-19)

The midwives refused to carry out Pharaoh's orders because they feared God. They bravely chose to obey God instead of people and used wisdom to resolve the crisis.

(3) Obedience brings God’s blessing (V20-21)

The obedience of the midwives not only brought the male babies of Israel to life but also brought them favour from God; they became the channels of blessing and the recipients of blessing.

May we all be like those midwives, fearing and obeying God amidst difficulties and challenges. Not only will we be blessed ourselves, but we will also become channels of blessing and witness God’s wonderful deeds!

Conclusion (V22): Persecution still exists, but God is always with us!
