2 Corinthians 6: The Call to Be Christ’s Ambassador GK611 Morning Devotion GK611 Morning Devotion 10/09/2025 Speaker: Ps Stella Ling Introduction: The Identity and Calling of an Ambassador I. An Ambassador Must Treasure the Opportunity (2 Cor. 6:1–2) 1.Do Not Receive God’s Grace in Vain (V1) The word “in vain” means without effect, wasted. God’s grace comes to us not to leave us at the level of head knowledge, but to bring renewal and transformation to our lives. Although grace is given freely, God expects us to respond with a genuine life. If grace does not result in fruits of repentance, obedience, and love for the Lord, then it is as if we have taken God’s grace for granted. 2. Seize the Present Moment (V2) Paul quotes from Isaiah to emphasize that “now” is the time of God’s favor, the day of salvation. God is actively extending His grace, and we must respond without delay. Too often we say, “wait a little,” or “maybe later.” But Paul reminds us: responding to God and sharing the gospel cannot be postponed. We are called to live in the present and use today’s opportunities to proclaim the gospel—without waiting for a so-called “perfect moment.” II. An Ambassador Must Live Out the Testimony (2 Cor. 6:3–10) 1. Faithful in Hardship (V4–5) Paul lists the many sufferings he endured—beatings, imprisonment, hunger, and more—yet he never abandoned his calling. This shows us that true testimony is not about shouting slogans in times of comfort, but about remaining faithful even in adversity. 2. A Testimony of Character (V6–7) Paul served with purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, and sincere love. People may not immediately accept the message we preach, but they will certainly observe the life we live. If an ambassador’s life lacks authenticity, gentleness, and holiness, it weakens the gospel we proclaim. Our character is the foundation of the gospel’s credibility. 3. Glory in Paradoxes (V8–10) Paul presents a series of striking contrasts: “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing,” “poor, yet making many rich,” “having nothing, yet possessing everything.” These reveal the spiritual tension in the life of an ambassador. The glory of Christ’s ambassador does not lie in external recognition but in being faithful and genuine before God. Even when misunderstood or overlooked, we glorify the Lord and fulfill His purposes. III. An Ambassador Must Remain Holy (2 Cor. 6:11–18) 1. A Heart Wide Open (V11–13) Paul urged the Corinthians to open their hearts, not to reject the truth because of fleshly prejudice or emotions. As Christ’s ambassadors, we must learn to accept the weak, embrace those who are different, and serve people with Christ’s love—not with narrowness or bias. 2. Clear Distinction Between Belief and Unbelief (V14–16) “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers” refers to a separation in values and spiritual direction. Believers are not called to withdraw from society, but in marriage, the workplace, and partnerships, we must maintain God’s standards—without compromise, without mixture. As Christ’s ambassadors, we must walk firmly on the spiritual path, resisting the current of the world, and living out a holy, set-apart life. 3. Becoming a Holy Temple (V16–18) Paul reminds believers: “You are the temple of the living God,” because the Holy Spirit dwells in us. Holiness is not about following external rules but about living out our true identity as God’s children. Holiness is the channel of God’s presence. When we are willing to be set apart for Him, His presence comes more deeply among us, and He promises: “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters.” Conclusion: Responding to the Call of Christ’s Ambassador •Treasure the opportunity: Respond to God now and do not waste His grace. •Live out the testimony: In both prosperity and adversity, let your life reveal Christ. •Remain holy: Draw a clear line with the world and live out God’s glory. May we all courageously respond to this call, faithfully representing the Lord in this world and becoming living witnesses of the gospel.
