Acts Chapter 4: Follow God, and God Will See you Through
GK611 Morning Devotion 08.05.2026 Speaker: Ps Asher Chang Introduction: ‘Seeing It Through’ I. Obeying God’s Will Without Wavering (Acts 4:1–31) 1. Standing Firm Despite Opposition (v1–4) When the apostles preached the gospel, opposition arose immediately; they were arrested, yet the number of believers increased. People may restrict the apostles, but they cannot hinder the Word of God. This reminds us that opposition does not mean God is absent; rather, it may show that we are walking in God’s way. Today, when we choose to seriously follow God, we will also face pressure, but we must learn to stand firm, trusting that if God has begun the work, He will carry it through. 2. Continuing to Testify Despite Interrogation (v5–12) Facing interrogation before the Sanhedrin, Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, clearly testified that Jesus is the only Saviour. He did not compromise under pressure. This shows us that true witness is to persevere amidst challenges. Today, when we face doubts from others or conflicts in values, we too must rely on the Holy Spirit to be bold, because God will uphold us. 3. Remaining Obedient Despite Intimidation (v13–22) The Sanhedrin used intimidation to try to stop them from preaching about Jesus, but the apostles insisted, ‘obey God rather than men.’ Intimidation is often a pressure that causes people to retreat prematurely. Today, we too may shrink back for fear of rejection, but God’s Word is our standard. If we obey God, He will take care of the outcome. 4. Continuing in Prayer Despite Pressure (v23–31) When the church faced pressure, they prayed with one accord, not asking for their circumstances to change, but for greater boldness. God did not first change their circumstances; rather, He first filled them, enabling them to press on. Today, when we face pressure, we too must return to prayer, allowing God to give us the strength to continue in obedience. II. Being United and Aligned with God (Acts 4:32–37) 1. Witnessing with One Heart and Mind (v32) Amidst pressure, the church became even more united, with one heart and mind aligned in the Lord. They were no longer self-centered, but together testified of God. True unity is the alignment of our lives with God, not merely superficial harmony. 2. Mutual Provision with Nothing Lacking (v34–37) They provided for one another, so that ‘not one of them was in need’. God’s provision often flows through people to one another. Barnabas’s self-sacrifice set an example. Today, we too must become God’s channels, ensuring that no one in the community is overlooked. Conclusion: Enter Into God’s Timing and Experience His provision Today we are preparing to enter the season of Pentecost, a time when God calls us to go out and preach the Gospel. We may not yet face persecution, but we will certainly encounter rejection and pressure. We can be bold, not because we are brave enough, but because this is God’s will. If it is from God, God will surely see it through. This is a time for the whole church to move together. We do not wait until we are no longer afraid before stepping out; rather, we continue obeying even under pressure. When we step out, we will discover that it is not we who are holding things up, but God who is upholding us. May we become people who are bold and obedient, united in heart and walking in God’s will, experiencing together His true guidance and provision.
