1 Corinthians 6: Living a Life that Glorifies God
GK611 Morning Devotion 13/08/2025 The Morning Devotion Speaker: Ps Stella Introduction: “My body, My Decision" I. In Relationships – Live for God’s Glory (1 Cor. 6:1–11) 1. Strive to Maintain Unity (v1–6) Paul points out that disputes between believers should not be taken to secular courts. As members of the body of Christ, we should prioritize resolving conflicts in a spiritual manner. Paul calls believers to take the initiative in repairing relationships, avoiding division in the church caused by quarrels. 2. Reflect the Glory of Christ (v7–8) Paul further emphasizes that bringing internal church matters before the courts is itself a spiritual defeat. Spiritually mature Christians should be willing to suffer loss and endure injustice, because Jesus, out of love, sacrificed Himself as our example. 3. Display God’s Grace (v9–11) Paul lists various sins to remind believers of their past corruption, but also of the fact that through Jesus Christ, God has washed, sanctified, and justified us. This new identity should produce a new lifestyle, marked by showing grace to others. II. In the Body – Live for God’s Glory (1 Cor. 6:12–20) 1. The Body Belongs to God (v12–13) Paul teaches that freedom does not mean indulging in whatever we please, but wisely choosing what is beneficial. The way we use our bodies is a matter of faith, not merely a personal issue. 2. The Body Is the Temple of the Holy Spirit (v14–17) The Holy Spirit dwells within our bodies, making them God’s dwelling place. Impure actions defile His temple, so we must treat our bodies with reverence. 3. We Were Bought at a Price (v18–20) Jesus redeemed our bodies with His precious blood; therefore, our bodies no longer belong to ourselves but to the Lord. In light of this, our daily choices should glorify God—obedience is a loving response to Him. Conclusion: In relationships: pursue unity, humility, and grace. In the body: honor the Spirit’s indwelling by living in holiness and glory. We were bought at a great price—let us live lives that glorify God.
