Acts Chapter 18: Fearless Because God Is with us
GK611 Morning Devotion 04.06.2026 Speaker: Ps Daniel Kew I. When We Are Alone, God Provides Companions (Acts 18:1–5) 1.Sharing the Journey (V1–3) Paul arrived in the morally corrupt city of Corinth alone. He had no money and companions, so he returned to his trade of tentmaking to support himself. Yet in his loneliest moment, God brought Aquila and Priscilla into his life. These three strangers in a foreign land began living and serving together. Many times, God's presence is expressed through the companions He provides for us, bringing fellow travelers alongside us in our journey. 2.United in Purpose (V4–5) When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, they brought not only encouragement but also financial support, enabling Paul to devote himself fully to preaching the gospel. God never intended for us to fight our battles alone. We need "Silases and Timothys" in our lives, and we should also learn to become a "Silas" or "Timothy" for others—supporting one another and moving forward together in unity. II. In Desperate Situations, God Opens New Paths (Acts 18:6–8) 1.Knowing When to Change Direction (V6–7) Paul wholeheartedly preached the gospel to his fellow Jews, but they rejected and opposed him. As a result, he turned to the Gentiles and continued proclaiming the good news. Through his actions, he demonstrated that human rejection cannot hinder God's mission. Rejection is not the end; it may be God's way of opening a new path. Changing direction at the right time is not giving up—it is continuing to move forward. 2. A Testimony of Transformation (v8) Paul led Crispus, the synagogue ruler, and his entire household to faith in Christ. This dramatic transformation made a profound impact on the city of Corinth. Never limit what God can do. The hardest heart may become the next life transformed by His grace. III. God Gives His Promise in the misdt of darkness (Acts 18:9–17) 1.Receiving God's Promise (V9–11) As Paul faced pressure and opposition, the Lord appeared to him in a vision during the night and said, "Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, for I am with you." Because of this promise, Paul remained in Corinth for a year and a half, faithfully teaching the Word of God. When we face life's pressures and an uncertain future, fear can easily arise. Yet God says, "Do not be afraid, for I am with you." When we trust His promises, we can experience peace and have courage even in the midst of life's storms. 2.The Wicked Bring Shame Upon Themselves (V12–17) The Jews attempted to use the government authorities against Paul, but Gallio refused to hear the case. As a result, the gospel was not condemned, God's promise was fulfilled and those who sought to hinder God's work ultimately brought shame upon themselves. When faced with injustice and misunderstanding, do not lose heart. God is still sovereign. Continue walking in the truth and leave the outcome in His hands. The schemes of the wicked will ultimately come to nothing. IV. In Times of Transition, God Has a Mission (Acts 18:18–28) 1.Letting Go and Passing the Torch (V18–22) Paul did not remain in the comfort of his success in Corinth. Instead, he traveled to Ephesus with Priscilla and Aquila, leaving them there to continue the work while he pressed on to the next assignment. A person with a true sense of mission does not simply move forward alone but is also willing to equip, mentor, and empower others. 2. Building One Another Up (V24–28) At this time, a man named Apollos appeared. He was gifted and eloquent, yet his understanding of the gospel was incomplete. Priscilla and Aquila patiently instructed him, and he humbly received their teaching. Spiritual growth requires a willingness to keep learning. Those who are teachable will continually be shaped by God and greatly used for His purposes. Conclusion: God's plans and promises never fail, and His children are never forgotten. Because God is with us, His presence will always be our protection, strength and the source of courage.
