Acts Chapter 3: The Lord Bless in Order to Lead People to Repentance
GK611 Morning Devotion 07.05.2026 Speaker: Ps Daniel Kew 1. God Often Works in the Ordinary (Acts 3:1–6) i. Routine prayer, encountering real needs (V1–3) A man lame from birth was carried every day to the temple gate called “Beautiful Gate” to beg for money. When he saw Peter and John, he asked them for alms as usual. God worked during a routine prayer time, through the most unnoticed beggar. Our “daily life” today—going to work, caring for children, serving in ministry—is exactly where God loves to step in. Don’t underestimate the “Beautiful Gate” you’re heading to today; there may be someone there whom God wants to touch. ii. No silver or gold, but the name of Jesus (V4–6) Peter and John were not wealthy, but they possessed something far more valuable—the power of the risen Jesus. When Peter took the man by his right hand, his feet and ankles were instantly strengthened. We often feel that we are “not enough,” but today, in the name of Jesus, we can bring healing, hope, and transformation. True blessing is not material wealth, but the power released through the name of Jesus. 2. Every Miracle Points to Jesus (Acts 3:7–16) i. The lame man leaps, and the people are filled with wonder (V7–10) The lame man jumped to his feet, began to walk, and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. The people recognized him as the one who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment. When God heals us—whether physically, emotionally, or relationally—we should openly praise Him. This allows others to see the power of Jesus and becomes our most powerful testimony and witness. ii. Not by my power, but by the name of Jesus (V11–16) Peter gave all glory for the healing to God: “It is by faith in His name that this man has been made completely well.” He also confronted their sin directly—they had handed over Jesus, the Holy and Righteous One, to Pilate and killed the Author of life. Yet God fulfilled what the prophets had foretold—that the Messiah must suffer. When sharing our testimony, we must not focus on how “capable” we are, but point to Jesus. Our story is only the bridge; Jesus is the answer. 3. The Ultimate Blessing: Repentance and Turning Back (Acts 3:17–26) i. Sins of ignorance, repentance brings forgiveness (V17–20) Peter said, “I know that you acted in ignorance… Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out…” What “ignorance” or habits might still be hindering us today? Repentance is not a one-time act, but a daily turning back to Jesus—experiencing forgiveness, renewal, and times of refreshing. ii. The promise of the prophets: the blessing of Abraham (V21–26) Peter referred to Moses and all the prophets, pointing out that Jesus is the Prophet who was to come. God first sent Jesus to bless the Jewish people by turning them from their wicked ways. We are all heirs of this promise. No matter our background, God desires to bless us eternally through Jesus. Don’t wait until everything is perfect—turn back today. In our families, workplaces, and churches, live out a life of repentance—be blessed, and become a blessing to others. Conclusion:Repent! Turn back! Leave your sins! And times of refreshing will surely come!
