Hebrews 2: Believe with all your heart and keep your salvation

Introduction: How to preserve a piece of paper so that it will not deteriorate for a long time?

If a piece of paper is not well protected, it may accumulate dust or turn yellow due to humidity.
This piece of paper is like our salvation, and our faith is like a protective cover for this piece of paper. The many trials in our lives today, the values of the world, the frustrations of life can cause us to lose our faith. With the loss of protection, our salvation may also be lost.

1. Do not neglect God's salvation (V1-4)

(1) Hear the Word more and more (V1)
Salvation is like an anchor in a ship, and we are like the ship. The anchor is what keeps the ship steady in the midst of the storm and the waves so that it will not be swept away.

Our mind and heart must hold on to the truth we hear, otherwise we can easily lose the truth we hear with the influence of the world. If a person does not take care to hold on to the truth, he is like a ship without an anchor, which easily loses God's salvation with the world.

(2) To listen and obey (V2)
The law of Moses was received from the angels, and it is certain that all who violate it will suffer the retribution due to them. All the blessings and curses spoken of in the law are fulfilled, and men take them seriously.

(3) Believe with all your heart (V3-4)
If we ignore the great salvation of God, we cannot escape from sin. To ignore means not to take it to heart, not to care, not to believe. This great salvation was spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ himself, and its importance will be greater than that preached by the angels, and confirmed by the lives of those who heard it.

"God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?" (2:4) Therefore, let us be more and more solemn about the word we have heard, lest we be carried away from the truth by the thoughts and doctrines of the day.

2.God's choice must not be ignored (V5-9)

(1) God cares for us (V5-8)
The scripture quotes from Psalm 8, where the "him" originally refers to every person who has been saved, that is, you and me. The ultimate purpose of God is to restore man to the image of God's creation. God was mindful of us, and made us a little smaller than the angels for a while, to give us glory and honour as a crown, and to put all things under our feet; and if all things obey us, there is not a single thing left that does not obey us, which was the image of God in the beginning.

(2) God loves us (V9)
Though the time has not yet come for all things to be put under our feet, yet we see all things put under the feet of Jesus. Because of the salvation that God wanted to give to man, Jesus willingly accomplished it, and bore the suffering of death for us, and received the crown of honour and glory!

3. Do not neglect the offering of Jesus (V10-17)

(1) Jesus suffered so that man might be made whole (V10)
Jesus is the creator of all things and the author of all things. He is the marshal of salvation who went through suffering to lead us into perfection. By following Jesus, we have salvation, and by the Holy Spirit we can perform supernatural miracles and bring all things under us again.

(2) Jesus became flesh to bring victory over death (V11-15)
The Scriptures mention that Jesus and we are one, and that Jesus became flesh and became man. Because man is flesh and blood, Jesus also had to become flesh and blood, so that He might be the same as us, so that He might corrupt the power of death through death, and taste death for us.

(3) Jesus became the atoning sacrifice to redeem us (V16-18)
As God saved the children of Abraham, so Jesus will redeem us. Jesus Christ humbled Himself for us and was temporarily small. He became flesh and endured suffering, temptation, and death to be equal with men to save us.

Conclusion:

God so loved the world and gave His only begotten Son for our sins. We must indeed keep our faith. Be careful, do not take it lightly, be more and more solemn about the word you hear, and do not let the world be our casual loss to the great salvation God has given us.
