Colossians 1 Glorious Result
GK611 Morning Devotion 01/07/2025 The Morning Devotion Speaker: Rev David Tan Introduction: Almost all good things need to go through the process of "transformation"! I. Faith, Hope and Love in the Fruits of the Gospel (Col. 1:1-8) We need to be ministers of the gospel of Christ, that is, people who are faithful in bearing fruit. Ultimately, we need to faithfully live out the three fruits of faith, love, and hope, which are also the true signs of spiritual life. We need to reflect on our faith from these three aspects: 1. Is there the fruit of faith? Faith is the positive side of everything, believing that God can change everything. What man cannot do, God can do. So, you can actively give thanks and praise, and even in difficult situations, see that the problem has been entrusted to God. Let go but don't give up, just believe that the problem will pass. 2. Is there the fruit of love? Do we live out our true faith in love? Our family, spouse, and members around us can say with certainty: "Are you a loving person?" If you have a loving life, the people around you will surely be full of gratitude and joy. 3. Is there the fruit of hope? People with true hope will naturally have light, smiles, and strength on their faces. They can face life without fear, because they know that even if the difficulties in front of them are "dark", the "hope" in God will make us see that the future results will be "bright"! II. Fulfilling God’s Will in the Kingdom of His Son (Col. 1:9-14) Paul's prayer reveals the path to spiritual growth: 1. Knowing God's will with all your heart (V9) Understanding God's will is a kind of spiritual wisdom, which allows us to understand the "why" in many aspects of life. When things are not going well, life is difficult, and there is no way out, we often ask God in our prayers: "Why?" It turns out that breakthroughs, victory, glory... are all hidden behind suffering. This is God's will! 2. Bear good fruit in the Lord’s favour (V10) How should we live up to the Lord in our conduct? Bear good fruit in the Lord’s favour in everything? If life is full of good things, I am afraid it will be difficult for us to show that our fruit is good; it is precisely because the environment is difficult, but we are full of the fruit of faith, hope and love, that we can show good fruit, right? 3. Strength upon strength, patience and tolerance (V11) What is the power of God’s glory? Don’t think that only the miracles of healing and casting out demons are the power of the Holy Spirit. God’s word says, “strengthen in every way…” and shows the power of patience and tolerance. This is the true power of Christ Church! Prayer is not only for "needs" but also for "spiritual depth and maturity"; we need to be constantly renewed, escape from darkness, and enter the kingdom of light. III. The Lord of All Reconciles Relationships (Col. 1:15-22) 1. Jesus is the head of all things (V15-18) Do you understand the revelation of this passage? It turns out that everything on earth, even everything in heaven, visible and invisible, is created by the Lord and for the Lord. So how can we not understand our life goals and the meaning of existence? Live completely for His will! And His will is what is mentioned in the second major point above. 2. Repair all relationships (V19-22) A life with harmonious and beautiful relationships is a happy one! Do you think about your relationship with God? It is a sin to hinder our close relationship with God. If there are weaknesses in our life habits that have not been put down, there will be a gap between us and God; the gap with God will bring obstacles to our relationships with people. The devil will have the opportunity to make you lose your abundant life and be filled with negative emotions such as bitterness and hatred. However, life in Christ is reconciled, holy, flawless and blameless! IV. Ministers of the Gospel of Glory and Hope (Col. 1:23-29) Spiritual maturity and church building come at a price; "Christ in you becomes the hope of glory" is the glorious core of the mystery. That is to say, the more we see the problem in front of us, the faster our thinking should turn to the opposite. What is the final glorious result? That is the glorious result that God wants to accomplish. As recipients of the gospel and spokespersons of the gospel, we are committed to serving and willing to suffer, helping people to mature in life in Christ by preaching, warning, and teaching, and using all kinds of wisdom to lead people completely to God. Conclusion: Glorious Victory The blueprint for a glorious life requires a transformation process that is aligned with the truth!
