Deuteronomy 4: Choose to Observe and Obey, and Bring Blessings to All Generations

Introduction:
1. Follow the instructions and receive the gift
When I got a gift as a child, the first thing I did was to frantically open it. As a result, once I broke the toy while unwrapping it and returned to the manufacturer to try to get a new one. It turned out that mine was the last set, and he said that if you follow the instructions to do so, in fact, will not be so easy to break. It turned out that you need to wait for the next shipment, and it takes a while. When I waited for the new ones, I very carefully peeled them off layer by layer and finally got to play with the long-awaited toys.
This experience reminded me that when God gives us good promises, we don't choose to try to get them in our own way, but rather we choose to follow God's instructions and we will get the gift. God's gifts are very simple, and if we choose to follow them, we can open them layer by layer and receive the gifts God has given us.
2. The blessings of the blessings above all nations (V5-8)
Keeping and obeying the word of God is the greatest wisdom in life, which not only enables one to live, but also enables one to inherit an eternal estate. The promise of God is that he who does this is blessed above all nations, and is wiser than all nations. It is not because the person is highly educated, or has a good family education, or has inherited genes from the previous generation. It is all about keeping and doing everything God has commanded. Fearing God, obeying God, loving God with all our hearts, and living for God is what makes us different.
3. Be careful to pass on to the next generation (V9-14)
Moses once again reminded the people of two things: first, to be careful to keep our hearts, and second, to pass on our testimony to the next generation. The blessing was not to be received by ourselves alone, but to continue to pass on the message to the next generation. When we receive it by ourselves, we will also face times of forgetfulness or weakness. When we rise up and become a teacher to the next generation, we are constantly reminding ourselves to be more careful so that we can not only strengthen ourselves, but also build up the blessed next generation!
4. Beware of the scourge of idols (V15-28)
God is a spirit that transcends all images. In the experience at Mount Sinai, God manifested His glory, power, authority, and voice, but the people only heard the voice, but did not see the image. God wanted the people to know that God reveals Himself by using Words, not images. It was also God's intention to prevent people from " idolizing" Him as a limited God. Beware of the idols.
5. Choosing an unchanging covenant (V29-39)
If men must worship idols, God does not intervene again and again to stop them, but leaves them to go through captivity until they are utterly disappointed in the God of nothingness. The captives of the people are those who make these idols, where you will serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell V28.
There is hope for man when he is willing to turn back. Because of God's mercy and eternal covenant keeping. God has made an everlasting covenant with man, and His faithfulness, love, and mercy will never change. His promises are unchanging. Man will seek Him and find it when he seeks Him with all his heart and soul. God will reveal His works through trials, signs, wonders, battles, mighty hands, outstretched arms, and great and awesome things.
Conclusion: Choose to experience the blessings of all generations (V40-49)
God has made known His statutes and commandments to us today, and we are to keep them, that we and our children may be blessed, and that our days may last in the land which the Lord has given us.
