Ezra Chapter 7: God's Hand Raises Up EzraGK611 Morning Devotion 24/07/2025 The Morning Devotion Speaker: Ps. Daniel I. God's Hand Prepares the Right Person (Ezra 7:1–10) I. God's Hand Prepares the Right Person (Ezra 7:1–10) 1. Genealogy Reveals God's Plan (V1–5) This is a very important genealogy! It proves that Ezra was a descendant of Aaron (the high priestly line). God had long prepared him to become a spiritual leader. God also has a unique plan for each of our lives. Maybe you seem ordinary now, but God is preparing you! 2. Skilled in the Law, Helped by God (V6–9) The passage describes Ezra as a scribe well-versed in the Law—a person deeply grounded in God's Word, devout in spirit, and with a solid foundation of faith. Though he grew up in a foreign land, he wasn’t assimilated by the culture. Instead, he quietly rooted himself in truth, becoming a vessel prepared by God. God’s hand helped him—moved the king’s heart, granted all he requested, and raised him up as a leader to bring willing Jews back from Babylon. This was the second wave of return. God doesn’t use people casually, especially leaders. He uses those who are persistently and faithfully preparing themselves. If we become well-versed in God’s Word and continue to fear Him, His gracious hand will also deliver, guide, and uphold us. 3. Determined to Do and Teach the Word (V10) God's hand helped Ezra, and he actively responded by resolving to: Study God’s Law、Obey God’s Law、Teach God’s Law. God intentionally raised up Ezra because He wanted to use him to help and instruct the Israelites, leading them to once again understand God's Law and serve Him according to His will. Today, God is still looking for people like this—those willing to first equip themselves, live according to the truth, serve others, and lead the lost back to God’s heart. II. God’s Hand Advances the Right Work (Ezra 7:11–26) 1. Royal Decree, Divine Arrangement (V11–20) The Persian king took the initiative to provide funds and supplies to support Ezra’s return! This was entirely God’s doing—because “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD” (Proverbs 21:1). When we obey God, He not only opens the way for us, but even mobilizes unexpected resources—because what God intends to accomplish, no one can stop! 2. Spiritual Authority, Sacred Responsibility (V21–26) God gave Ezra great authority, but also entrusted him with great responsibility—he was authorized to use the treasury, teach the people the Law, and appoint judges. Grace is not for comfort but for mission! The resources God gives us—time, money, gifts—are not for personal enjoyment, but to serve His Kingdom. The greater the grace, the greater the responsibility! III. God’s Hand Strengthens the Right Heart (Ezra 7:27–28) Ezra was raised and mightily used, yet he wasn’t proud. Instead, he praised and glorified God! He knew that all success came from “the hand of God,” which gave him strength to face every challenge. When we see fruit in our ministry, we must learn from Ezra’s attitude of gratitude. A thankful heart is the key to be used continuously by God! Conclusion: The hand of God that raised up Ezra can also raise up you and me! Maybe you feel ordinary, but God is preparing you. Maybe you feel under-resourced, but God can mobilize everything. Maybe you're afraid of failure, but God wants to strengthen your thankful heart!
