The psalmist David’s choice when faced with a difficult situation was to worship God.
(2). He is salvation (V1a)
(3). He is a refuge (V1b-6)
The psalmist David was in a situation where he was trying to avoid being pursued by his enemies, while at the same time he was praising God and calling out to God. When fleeing from enemies, he may often hide in the darkness of caves. Despite this, he still chose to believe that God was the only way out. The enemies around him were like wild beasts, trying to eat his flesh, but he still believed that God was his salvation. David firmly believed that when faced with difficulties, he did not rush to find a way out, but chose to come to the temple of God to seek God.
When we face challenges at work, at home, at school, or in ministry, it can feel very dark and there is no way out. But remember that the Lord is our light and our salvation, so there is no need to fear. When we can lay down ourselves, turn our eyes from difficulties to God, and only look to Him, seek Him, and get close to Him, God will make our hearts still, and He will give us peace.
(2). He will not abandon us (V9-10)
(3). He will guide us (V11-12)
David not only appealed to God with his voice, but he also responded to God’s instructions with his heart. David’s prayer was an intimate conversation with God with his heart, and he responded to God’s call with his heart. When our hearts truly turn to God, God will hear our cry.
Anyone who sincerely calls on God will not abandon him, and God will guide his path. What we need to pay attention to is that it is not that God has abandoned us, but that we may choose to leave God. Ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten us, so that we can lay down ourselves, come before God, and surrender to God wholeheartedly so that we can enter true relaxation.
The last two verses are like David's encouragement to himself. He is speaking to his heart. David continued to experience God's grace and love throughout his life, and his faith continued to grow as a result. Even though he didn’t know what the way out was at that time, he still chose to wait for God’s timing with faith.
We have no way to choose what the future will be like, let alone change the future. But we can choose to trust His faithfulness, and that just as He helped David, He will also help us.
Let God be our protection and trust Him wholeheartedly. No matter how difficult the road is, there will be a way out in His hands
