The Morning Devotion Speaker: Ps Daniel

I. Calm and Patient—Wait Quietly for the Lord (Ps 37:1-11)

1. Do Not Fret Because of Evildoers (V1–2)

Evildoers may seem to prosper, but their glory is like grass—grows quickly and withers even faster! Spiritually speaking, envying the “success” of the wicked only brings unnecessary trouble, failing to see the emptiness and brevity of their end.

2. Trust, Commit, Cease from Anger, and Wait (V3–8)

David uses four key verbs: trust, delight in the Lord, commit your way, wait patiently for Him, and refrain from anger. This is God’s special prescription for those struggling with frustration: Trust is the foundation, commitment is the action, waiting is the patience, and ceasing from anger is the protection.

3. Humble and Obedient—Inherit the Land (V9–11)

David tells us to be the humble, those who do not rely on their own ways to find a solution, but patiently wait on God in faith. Such people will not only inherit the land, but also enjoy the peace and blessings of God’s kingdom! Meanwhile, the wicked will be cut off.

II. Fear Not the Wicked—Firmly Trust in God's Sovereignty (Psalm 37:12–26)

1. The Arrogance of the Wicked Will Lead to Their Ruin (V12–15)

The wicked plot against the righteous, but God is not a passive bystander! He laughs at their futile schemes, because He is in control and will bring justice at the appointed time—causing the wicked to reap what they sow.

When facing injustice or persecution, bring your complaint to God. Resist the urge to take revenge into your own hands, stay upright, and continue doing good.

2. The Righteous Possess a Secure and Blessed Inheritance (V16–20)

The world measures value by material wealth, but God’s standard is completely different! What the righteous have—though little—is worth more in God’s eyes than the abundance of the wicked, because God Himself is their security. The wealth of the wicked is like morning dew—soon vanishing like smoke. Let us learn to experience God’s abundance even in our “little.”

3. The Secret to Blessing—Three Key Traits (V21–26)

This passage highlights three keys to a righteous person’s blessed life: generous giving (vv. 21–22), steady steps (vv. 23–24), and generational blessing (vv. 25–26). The righteous are full of grace, willing to give, and even their descendants are blessed. In contrast, the wicked borrow but do not repay—and suffer the consequences.

III. Stay on Course—Wisely Wait for the Lord (Psalm 37:27–40)

1. Do Good, Turn from Evil, and Hold Fast to His Way (V27–34)

Waiting on the Lord is not passive—it means actively doing good, turning from evil, and holding fast to His ways. This is a true expression of faith. God will surely exalt the righteous and bring judgment upon the wicked.

2. The End of the Wicked—Gone Without a Trace (V35–36)

The power of the wicked is only a façade—their end is sudden and complete disappearance, like a tree uprooted and no longer found.

3. The End of the Righteous—Peace and Salvation (V37–40)

In stark contrast to the wicked who vanish without a trace, the righteous enjoy an end marked by peace and salvation. This vivid picture of two opposing destinies gives us great confidence as we wait on the Lord!

Conclusion: Those Who Wait for the Lord Will Never Wait in Vain

Where you cannot see, God is paving the way; in the moments that feel silent, He is at work. Waiting is not a waste—it is the training ground of faith.

It is the passage you must walk through before entering into blessing. It is the very process by which God prepares you to receive His best.
