Psalm 48 - The Blessed Are Those Who Have GodGK611 Morning Devotional 02.12.2025 Speaker: Rev David Tan Introduction: What is the value of the gift pack? I. God’s Presence Brings Glory and Protection (48:1–3) The city of God—Zion is glorious not because of geographical advantage, but because God dwells there. Likewise: the value of individuals, families, and the church does not derive from external circumstances, but from whether God resides within them. In other words, wherever God dwells, there is glory. His presence surpasses human achievements, wealth, and buildings. Seeking God's presence matters more than seeking human approval. Therefore, Tree of Life Church must affirm this order of life: God first, people next, then the earth. II. When God Moves, the Nations Tremble (48:4–7) The kings gathered to attack the city, yet they panicked and retreated because of God’s presence—defeated without a fight. God used only an “east wind” to break the mightiest forces. Many difficulties that look powerful collapse the moment God intervenes. Enemy’s intimidation is often greater than the actual attack, yet God can stop it instantly. When facing adversaries, rely not on your own strength, but on God’s presence. Once we learn to rely more closely upon God, all things that instil fear cease to be a threat! III. From God’s Promises to Personal Experience (48:8) “As we have heard, so have we seen.” This is the key to spiritual growth: From knowledge → to experience. From others’ testimonies → to my testimony. Faith must not remain merely in hearing the Word; it must enter into personal experience of God. God desires you to see His faithfulness with your own eyes. Each experience becomes a foundation for your life. Once experienced, it becomes ‘body memory’—the very essence of the tree of life! (Body memory refers to emotions, experiences, and traumas stored in the body, not merely in the mind. When triggered by circumstances, the body reacts first, before reason can explain.) IV. God’s Love Brings Joy to His People (48:9–11) Worship is not merely outward motion, but contemplating God's lovingkindness. When we fix our eyes upon God's goodness, our faith is renewed. The heart of worship lies not in music, but remembering God's grace. A troubled heart cannot worship; we must still our souls to recount His kindness. God's love and righteousness bring joy; His judgments cause the whole earth to rejoice. Knowing we are loved makes us truly blessed and joyful! V. Relying on God to Pass His Grace to Future Generations (48:12–14) “Walk around Zion… so that you may tell it to the next generation.” God wants us to intentionally count His blessings; otherwise, we forget easily. Faith is built upon remembering God’s deeds. Every family and every church requires the inheritance of testimony. God not only guides this life but leads us into eternity. One of our missions is to continue passing on all God’s abundant grace to the future generations! Conclusion: Reflecting Again on the Life of the Tree of Life 1. The Glory of His Presence: God glorifies the city; humanity finds worth through His dwelling. 2. The Power of Protection: No enemy, however mighty, can stand before God. 3. Faith Formed Through Experience: From hearing to seeing, faith transforms from message to lived experience. 4. The Heart of Worship: Remembering God’s steadfast love leads to joyful and steadfast living. 5. The Mission of Passing On: By recounting God's deeds, the next generation comes to know the eternal God. Likewise, the life of the Tree of Life reveals: what truly determines a person's worth and strength is not external achievements, appearances, or titles, but what lies within—whether it carries God's presence, God's truth, God's love, and the fruit of life.
